Crystal of the month: Aquamarine
Aquamarine is the birthstone for March. It gets its name from the latin phrase 'aqua marina' which translates to 'sea water'. It has been used for centuries by travellers for protection. First being used by pirates who would keep it with them as they believed it would ward off drowning.
Aquamarine is in the beryl group of crystals alongside the following:
- blue beryl - aquamarine
- green beryl - emerald
- pink beryl - morganite
- yellow beryl - heliodor
- colourless beryl - goshenite
Properties of aquamarine:
- stone of courage
- reducing stress
- calming the mind
- mental clarity
- soothes fears
- intuition
Aquamarine would make the perfect gift for any march birthdays you have coming up, or just anyone who loves the blue/green colours of the ocean this stone has. Alternatively, it would be great for anyone who would benefit from its soothing properties.
