Crystal of the Month | Garnet | January
Happy new year! I hope you all had an amazing holiday season and a fab new year! We’re getting straight into 2025 with the birthstone for January: Garnet. Naturally, garnet grows with faceted edges which are often polished up gently. It dates back centuries; being found in burial sites of ancient egyptian, romans and greeks. We also see a lot of intricate Victorian jewellery pieces with Garnet in them. In Greek mythology, Garnet was said to symbolise love and eternity.
There are many different types of garnet, here are some of them:
- Almandine garnet - dark red to brown in colour
- Andradite - green to yellow-green in colour and extremely rare
- Grossularite - colourless, brown, green, grey and rarely red
- Hessonite - amber to brown in colour
- Melanite - black garnet
- Pyrope - a type of red garnet
- Rhodolite - rose pink to red in colour
- Spessartite - orange to brown in colour
- Uvarovite - the rarest type of garnet and emerald green in colour
Countries you can find Garnet:
- United states

Garnet is also the suggested wedding anniversary gift for the second and eighteenth year of marriage.

I don't have a lot of garnet currently unfortunately, just the crystal chip bracelets and earrings. Come back January 19th for my Aquarius blog post and February 1st for my next crystal of the month blog post.
